Husk
We buy mature husks from the estates around Matara, because fresh husk gives longer and brighter fibre.
Coco peat, coir fibre, mattress coir and twine, shipped by the container
Janahitha Coir Mills · Sri Lanka
We mill coco peat, coir fibre, mattress coir and twine on our own yard and load them for buyers around the world.

The mill
Three generations have run this yard since the 1980s, and every container still leaves under the family’s own eyes.

Four lines
Each line has its own specification, minimum order and container load, and all four can share one container.
Low-EC growing media that ships dry and dense, then expands on arrival.
Clean, strong husk fibre that is baled to fill a container evenly.
Springy curled coir that gives a mattress line its resilience and airflow.
Biodegradable twine that holds for a full season and composts with the crop.
Container planner
Serious buyers can size an order before they ask us anything, so the first conversation is about price and timing.
These loads are indicative. We confirm exact counts for your packing and pallet choice on the quote.
Why buy from the mill
Buyers who switch to the mill get the same coir with fewer hands between the husk and their warehouse.

You pay the mill price plus freight, with no exporter margin added on top.
Every batch is checked for EC, pH and moisture before it is baled or blocked.
Minimum orders, container loads and lead times are listed for every line.
Someone at the mill replies on WhatsApp or email within 24 hours.
Husk to container
Scroll sideways through the mill to follow one husk from the estate to the container door.
The full processWe buy mature husks from the estates around Matara, because fresh husk gives longer and brighter fibre.
Husks are soaked so the fibre separates from the pith without breaking.
Spiked drums tear each husk into bristle fibre, mixed fibre and pith.
Fibre and pith dry in the open sun until moisture falls below the grade.
We sieve the pith, clean the fibre and test every batch for EC, pH and moisture.
Hydraulic presses turn graded material into bales and blocks that stack evenly.
We stuff and seal each container at the yard, then send it to Colombo for shipping.
Markets
Most of our containers go to the United States, India, the United Kingdom and Australia, and we ship regularly to Europe, the Gulf and East Asia.
Every container ships from the port of Colombo, Sri Lanka.
